Bengaluru (Karnataka), May 30: Police have arrested five persons for allegedly raping and torturing one of their woman colleagues on Thursday in Bengaluru in the Southern state of Karnataka in India. The police claimed to have busted an international human trafficking racket operating from Bangladesh.


All accused including a woman and the victim are from Bangladesh. The male accused who took turns to rape the victim also resorted to torture by inserting a neck of a bottle into her private part and also filmed the entire incident of rape and torture. 


After the incident, the accused also circulated a video of the crime on social networking sites that went viral and alerted Assam Police who immediately informed Bengaluru police suspecting that the accused might belong to the North-Eastern region. The police said a dispute among them was triggered due to some financial transaction that led to the rape and torture of the woman adding that the other woman member of the gang also encouraged the culprits to rape her colleague.


The police said a human trafficking network was run by one Tiktok Hridoy from Dhaka who is active across the Middle East, India, and Bangladesh. The gang has contact with some hotel chains in India, where girls are trafficked, police said after preliminary investigations.


The kingpin of the racket who also was in the news after a video of his alleged involvement in the gang-rape and brutal torture of a Bangladeshi girl in cyber city Bengaluru went viral on social media. Assam police had shared clips from the video that were circulating on social media to trace the accused. Based on the clips, the Bengaluru city police arrested four men and two women in connection with the case. 


The name of the prime accused of this gang rape was revealed after Bangladesh police identified him as Hridoy from Dhaka's Moghbazar as one of the perpetrators of the crime. The rape victim's father later filed a case with the Hatirjheel police station in Dhaka under acts relating to human trafficking and rape on Thursday itself.
